The Tucson metropolitan area is home to a portion of the Coronado National Forest to the north with the Pusch Ridge Wilderness Area, which consists of 89 square miles comprising the west half of the Mount Lemmon recreation area.
To the east and west of town is the Saguaro National Monument, aptly named after the Arizona state flower and to the south, also part of the Coronado National Forest is Mount Wrightstown.
